Junior Research Fellowships

ICMR in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh will hold a National Level Examination at Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata Mumbai, Guwahati and Hyderabad on Sunday July 18th, 2010.

A total of 150 Fellowships would be awarded; 120 fellowships awarded in Life Sciences stream (like Microbiology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Human Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Immunology, Pharmacology, Zoology, Environmental Sciences, Botany, Veterinary Sciences etc), and thirty (30) fellowships in Social Sciences stream (like Psychology, Sociology, Home Science, Statistics, Anthropology, Social work & Health Economics ).

Eligibility:
Educational: M.Sc/M.A or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks for General/OBC Candidates and 50% for the SC/ST & Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates in the subjects mentioned above. Candidates appearing in the final year examination (2009-2010) can also apply.

Age Limit: The upper age limit for admission to the eligibility test is 28 years as on 30-09-2010 (relaxable up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH/ female candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), Government of India has set up the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) at Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh through an act of Parliament. Eligibility and Admission Criteria:
For admission to M.Tech. Programmes the applicant must have passed the qualifying examination of Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology from a recognized University with minimum 55% marks (or equivalent cumulative grade point index) or any other qualifying degree examination considered as equivalent by Nirma University. (With minimum 55% marks or equivalent CPI).

For sponsored category the applicants must have 55% of aggregate marks or an equivalent cumulative grade point index in the qualifying examination and at least 2 years of experience in the concerned field after passing qualifying examination on the date of interview of admission. He / She should produce certificate from the sponsoring organization in the Performa provided in the application form along with experience certificate, last pay certificate and provident fund slip.

For all categories if applicant has passed the qualifying examination from University other than Nirma University he/she will be required to obtain eligibility certificate from Nirma University. The arrangement for obtaining the same will be made on the spot on payment of Rs. 500/-.

Applicants should have a minimum CGPA of 6.75 (or 60% marks) for General, 6.25 (or 55% marks) for SC/ST, 5.75 (or 50% marks) for Physically Handicapped (PH) category on a 10 point scale in the qualifying examination and also have valid GPAT/GATE/NET qualification. Valid GPAT/GATE/NET score is not essential for those holding B.V.Sc/ MBBS/BAMS Degree, Foreign Nationals, NRI and their wards category (in case of M.B.A (Pharm) only, Sponsored candidates from Public/Private Sector undertakings, Govt. Departments and Research and Development Organizations. Those appearing for final qualifying examinations can also apply but they must produce final result on the day of Counselling/Interview/GD failing which their candidature shall be rejected.5% of seats are available for officially sponsored candidates from Govt. Department/PSU/R&D organization, with minimum 2 years experience.

Medical College or from any other office. However for candidates outside the state of Kerala, Prospectus and application form will be available by post. The Acknowledgement Card will have the application number printed on it and a security key embedded in a box. The candidate shall scratch the box to get the security key. The candidate is requested to maintain strict confidentiality of his/her security key to protect his/her interest.
7.4 Submission of Applications

There will be two stages for the submission of applications, both of which are mandatory. Candidates shall complete/fulfill both the stages well within the time schedule, which will be given in Annexure XVI.

Scholarships for Ph.D studies in India

The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund (JNMF) has invited applications from Indian Nationals and Nationals of other Asian Countries for the award of Scholarships of two years duration, commencing January 2011, for Ph.D studies in India.

A candidate may apply for scholarship in any one of the following areas of specialization:
(i) Science and Technology as an integral component of economic and social activity, including the Philosophy of Science
(ii) Comparative Studies in Religion and Culture
(iii) International Relations and Constitutional Studies
(iv) Indian History, Civilization and Culture
(v) Interface of Social Change and Economic Development
(vi) Environmental Ecology and Sustainable Development
(vii) Studies in the life and works of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Applicant should hold a first Class (minimum 60% marks) Postgraduate Degree, should not be above 35 years of age, should be a full-time Ph.D. Scholar, already registered/admitted for Ph.D Degree with a University/Institution in India approved by the Government in a subject in one of the areas of specialization listed above.
Those who have applied for registration and have not yet been registered are not eligible to apply.

Duration of the scholarship is two years. The Scholarship carries maintenance allowance including Tuition fee @ Rs.9,000/- per month, annual contingent expenses worth Rs. 12,000/- for study tours within India, books, stationery, thesis costs, etc and Sleeper Class Train fare from the place of residence or study in India for interview with the Selection Board.

Walk-in Entrance test:
Apply at Eduquity Career Technologies PVT LTD, 403, 4th Floor, Myhome Sarovar Plaza, Secretariat road, Hyderabad-63, Ph: 040-23243010 with a non-refundable crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 500/- from a nationalised bank drawn in favour of 'CIHL', payable at Hyderabad. If the candidate is satisfied with scores which he/she got through Walk-in Entrance then he/she can take regular entrance test which will be conducted from 26-05-2010, he/she needs to apply online (should take another DD for Rs. 500/-) . However the best of the scores would be considered for final ranking.

The walk-in entrance will be conducted from 12th April on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week upto 25-05-2010.

Last date for submission of completed application forms is 17-05-2010.
