IGNOU invites applications for the following Degree/Diploma programme in management:

The University will be admitting the students for the above degree/diplomas in Management starting from January 2009 and July 2009 through an entrance test 'OPENMAT-XXIV' to be held on Sunday, the 17th August, 2008 all over the country.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of supervisory/managerial/professional experience* OR
Professional Degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine/Architecture/Law/Pharmacy etc. OR
Professional Qualifications in Accountancy/Cost and Works Accountancy/Company Secretaryship, etc. OR
A Master’s degree in any subject.
(The University may consider other degrees to this list of equivalent professional degree/qualification, if required.)

Note: Non-Graduates with 6 years Supervisory/ Managerial/ Professional experience* are eligible to apply for DIM only. The candidates who have completed 10+2 or its equivalent qualification will be treated as Non-Graduates.
*Experience means work experience during or after acquiring the qualification as specified. Work experience requirement of 3/6 years should be fulfilled as on 31st October, 2008 for January, 2009 and 30th April, 2009 for July, 2009 session.

There is no age bar for any of the Programmes.

FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
Foreign students residing in India are eligible to seek admission in IGNOU programmes who have valid student visa for the minimum duration of the programme. Such students are required to remit the fee at par with foreign students (fee structure of foreign students could be downloaded from the website www.ignou.ac.in) . Admission of foreign students residing in India will be processed by the International Division of the University after ensuring their antecedents from the Ministry of External Affairs/Ministry of Human Resource Development. Programmes with fixed number of seats are not opened for foreign students.

Filled in form for Entrance Test 'OPENMAT-XXIV' must reach, the Registrar (SR&E), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068, by registered Post/ Speed Post on or before 15th July, 2008.

WALK IN ADMISSION
Candidates who qualify entrance test can submit the registration form, available in the Student Handbook & Prospectus to the respective Regional Centres alongwith the required fee latest by 30th November, 2008 alongwith Result Card, Identity Card and other relevant documents, for admission cycle starting from January, 2009 and by 31st May 2009 for admission cycle starting from July, 2009.

NOTE: Provision for on line registration for admission to the successful candidates will be made available on the university website (www.ignou.ac.in) after declaration of the entrance test result.

'Student Handbook & Prospectus for Management Programme 2009', can be obtained from the Registrar (SR&E), IGNOU, Maiden Garhi, New Delhi-110068 and from all the Regional Centres of IGNOU whose addresses are given below, by sending a sum of Rs.550/- through a Demand Draft/IPO in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi/city of concerned Regional Centre or by paying Rs.500/- in cash at the respective sale counters. Please write your name and address on the back of the DD/IPO.

Last Date for receipt of request for 'STUDENT HANDBOOK & PROSPECTUS' by post is 30th June, 2008, however, the same will also be available at the respective sale counter till the last date (15th July, 2008) of receipt of application form at SR&E.

ADMISSION NOTICE

B.Sc. (NAUTICAL SCIENCE) – AUGUST 2008 SESSION

Indira Gandhi National Open University and the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Mumbai announce admissions in B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme commencing on 1st August 2008. This programme of IGNOU has been developed in collaboration with the DGS and is aimed at orienting the cadets for the equivalent life at sea by providing vocationally oriented education and training so as to help them become officers in the Merchant Navy.

The eligibility conditions are:
(A) Educational (1) 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 55% marks in PCM aggregate from a recognized Board OR with Physics as an individual subject in any one of the years of B. Sc with not less than 50% marks in the final year of B.Sc. from a recognized University provided that the candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board OR B.E./B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college/ University recognized by AICTE/ UGC/ DEC. And (2) Should have passed with not less than 50% marks in English as a subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree course, conducted by a Board or University.
[Note: Those appearing in educational eligibility qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provided they meet all the eligibility criteria on or before the commencement of the programme and produce the certificates to that effect.]
(B) Age (As on 1st August, 2008): Not more than 20 years in case of 10+2 pass, 22 years in case of B.Sc. Degree and 24 years in case of B.E./B.Tech. The age limit is relaxable by 2 years for female candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
(C) Physical and Medical Standards: Medically fit as per the standards prescribed by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000, and Eye sight: 6/6 in each eye without visual aids and normal colour vision. [Note: The candidates are advised to get them medically examined so as to avoid any last minute embarrassment.]

Selection Procedure:
Candidates will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test (OPENNET) to be held on 15th June, 2008 (Sunday) 10AM – 1 PM. Reservation in number of seats shall be as prescribed by the Government of India. For further details please refer to the Student Handbook and Prospectus. As per the latest guidelines issued by the DG Shipping, Mumbai, it is now mandatory for all the candidates to qualify in OPENNET to seek admission in B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme of IGNOU-DGS, irrespective of whether their candidature is sponsored by a Shipping Company/ Manning Agents or not.

4. M.Phil. OPTOMETRY:
This 2-year Higher Degree programme is conducted at Chennai in collaboration with Sankara Nethralaya - Medical Research Foundation. Input requirements: B.S. Optometry of BITS or equivalent.

2. Eligibility
Eligibility for Admissions:
(i) For admission to all the above programmes except B.Pharm.(Hons.) and M.Sc.(Hons.) Biological Sciences: Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.
(ii) For admission to B.Pharm.(Hons.) and M.Sc.(Hons.): Biological Sciences programmes: Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English. Candidates having both Mathematics and Biology in 10+2 have to decide whether they wish to appear in Mathematics or Biology subjects in BITSAT-2008.

Admission to all the programmes is subject to the conditions given below.

The candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 80% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of aggregate 80% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology subjects.

Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2008 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2007 only are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2008 test. Students who have passed 12th examination in 2006 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT-2008. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT test.

Admissions will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT-2008.

In addition to the application made earlier for registering in BITSAT-2008, interested and eligible candidates should apply for admission as per the procedure given below. Only those candidates who have passed their 12th year examination in 2008 or 2007 and have appeared in BITSAT-2008 will be included in the merit list for admission. Students who have passed 12th examination in 2006 or earlier are NOT eligible to apply.

Direct Admission of Board toppers:
First rank students of all the central and state boards in India and who have taken Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in their 12th examination will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2008 score. Board toppers who have taken Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their 12th examination are eligible for direct admissions to B.Pharm (Hons) and M.Sc. (Hons) Biological Sciences programmes only. However, they should have obtained the minimum marks in PCM/PCB subject in 12th examination, as described above. 3. DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF THE EDUCATIONAL STRUCTURE AND SOME SPECIAL PROVISIONS
1. All students who have taken Physics, Chemistry and Mathematic subjects in BITSAT and admitted to M.Sc. (Hons) programmes will be given an opportunity to work under the dual degree scheme for one of the B.E. (Hons.)/B.Pharm.(Hons.) programmes, assignment being made by competition on their performance at BITS at the end of first year, separately in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. Students who have taken Mathematics in BITSAT will be considered under “First Priority” category for allotment of dual degree. Students who have taken Biology in BITSAT will be required to take additional remedial Mathematics course and they will be able to apply for dual degree only under the “Other priorities” category which is operated after satisfying the known needs of “First Priority” category.
2. The Institute’s well known PRACTICE SCHOOL option is available to all students admitted.

Eligibility:
A Bachelor Degree in any subject of the University of Calicut or that of any other degree recognized by Calicut University under 10+2+3 pattern with 50% marks in aggregate including Languages. Applicants should obtain MAT score before the last date of submission of application. Applicants should attach copy of valid MAT score sheet along with their filled in application form, two sets of attested copies of the PDC/Plus-Two mark list (OBC/SC/ST/Students are allowed relaxation of marks as per rules. Those who are claiming reservation benefits for admission must attach Community Certificate, Nativity Certificate and Income Certificate obtained from competent authority within the last 6 months). Candidates awaiting their Degree result can also apply. But they should be qualified at the time of admission. The original plus two/PDC Mark list and MAT score sheet should be produced for verification at the time of Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Selection:
Selection is based on Plus-Two/PDC marks and score obtained in the Group Discussion & Personal Interview to be conducted by the University at Calicut and Thrissur.
