Eligibility: Minimum 3 year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline. Final year degree students, completing heir final examinations by June 15, 2009 may also apply.

ADMISSION TEST (XAT):
All applicants will have to apear for the Admission Test to be conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur, on 4th January 2009.


II) TWO-YEAR FULL-TIME PROGRAMME FOR
POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN RURAL MANAGEMENT, 2009-2011

Eligibility: Minimum 3-year Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in any discipline. Fina year degree students, completing their final examination by June 15, 2009, may also apply.

ADMISSION TEST (IRMA OR XAT)
Applicants will have to appear for one of the following Admission Tests.
a) The Test to be conducted by Institute of Rural Management, Anand, on 9th November 2008 or
b) XAT to be conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur on 4th January 2009. Apply for one of the tests before separately applying to XIMB.

After the stupendous success of the first batch, the Health Promotion and Health Communication Unit of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will be organizing the second “Pre-Marriage Training Course for Happy Married Life”, first of its kind in a government medical college , in October 2008. This two days course is meant for the men and women, especially young adults, going to get married. The second course is scheduled for 21-22 October, 2008 and is open to any Indian citizen of more than 18 years of age and planning to get married .


Why this Course ?
Incidence of marital discord and sexual disharmony, HIV/AIDS and STDs amongst the young couples is rising. Apart from stress in general life, it is believed that ignorance, myths and misconceptions about human body, sex and failure to adjust in marriage are the principle reasons for this.

That is the motivation for starting such a course. This course aims to help the youth in preparing physically, socially and emotionally for married life in a better way.

A maximum of 30 participants will be registered per batch on “first come- first served” basis. A nominal registration fee will be charged for this two days course.

Participants will also be advised on screening for certain genetic and acquired diseases before getting into nuptial alliance.


Eminent specialists will take sessions in this participatory course that will cover information on :
  • Human and sexual anatomy;
  • Sexual functions, sexual problems and their solutions
  • Contraception;
  • Common sexual problems;
  • Sexually transmitted diseases ( STDs) including HIV/ AIDS,
  • Advice about screening for genetic diseases ; and
  • Making adjustments in married life etc.

The number of seats in each subject is two (2) for residents of Union Territory of Puducherry and one (1) for candidates from Other States/ Union Territories. A monthly fellowship of Rs.3,000/- will be paid to the admitted M.V.Sc students who are residents of Puducherry Union Territory and Rs.1,000/- to those admitted from Other States/ Union Territories.

ADMISSION TO M.V.Sc. PROGRAMME
Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Puducherry came into its existence on 14th of October 1994. This college is wholly funded by the Government of Puducherry and is managed by a Board of Governors with the Chief Secretary to the Government of Puducherry as its Chairman. The college has adopted Veterinary Council of India (VCI) regulations and curricula since its inception for the Five year B.V.Sc & AH Degree Programme and the degree is recognized by the VCI. The college is permanently affiliated to Pondicherry Central University.

1. Major Fields

The Post - graduate Programme leading to M.V.Sc (Master of Veterinary Science) degree in the following major fields is offered for the academic year 2008-2009.

Livestock Products Technology (LPT)
Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension (AHE)
Veterinary Biochemistry (VBC)
Veterinary Microbiology (VMC)
Veterinary Pathology (VPP)

The duration of the course is two academic years, which includes one-year course work and one-year thesis work. The number of seats in each discipline are three (two are for residents of Puducherry Union Territory and one for candidates from other states and Union Territories).

2. Eligibility for Admission

2.1 Academic qualification: B.V.Sc & A.H degree recognized by Veterinary Council of India with a minimum O.G.P.A of 6.0 in 10.point scale. (5.0 for SC/ST candidates.) In other grading systems OGPA/Marks will be appropriately proportioned with 10 point grading scale.

2.2 Age: Should not have completed 35 years as on 31st December 2008 (Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.)
3. Criteria for Residents of Puducherry UT
A candidate is considered as resident of Puducherry UT if he/she is an Indian national and satisfies at least one of the following criteria:

1. Those candidates or whose parents have been residing continuously in the Puducherry UT at least for 5 years as on the preceding date of submission of application (Form D).

2. Children of Central / State Government Servants / Defence personnel / Central Paramilitary Forces/ Employees of Public Sector Undertakings / autonomous bodies wholly or substantially run either by the Central Government or by the Puducherry UT administration for at least a minimum period of one year to the last date of submission of application (Form D).

3. Children of natives of the Puducherry UT who have declared any place in Puducherry UT as their hometown and so certified by their respective Heads of Office. In such case, Nativity certificate in the prescribed format has to be enclosed along with the admission application (Form E).

4. Children of Defence Personnel who were killed or disabled in action and children of central Government Servants / Puducherry UT Government Servants/ Defence personnel / Employees of Public Sector Undertakings as referred in category (2) who died while in service in Puducherry (Form D).

5. French National residing in Puducherry UT and covered by the terms of the Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with the candidates who produce the prescribed Puducherry residence certificate. Such French nationals will not be required to produce residence certificate, instead they should produce a certificate of registration issued for this purpose from the French Consulate at Puducherry. Children of these French Nationals shall not be considered for admission under the quota of non residents.

For this purpose the relevant certificate in original has to be enclosed.

4. Application Procedure
Application for admission should be made in the prescribed form. Application form along with Information Bulletin can be obtained in person or by post by sending self-addressed A 4 size envelope stamped worth Rs.30/- from the office of the Dean of the college. All applications duly completed along with a non-refundable fee of Rs.500/- in Cash/Demand Draft drawn in favour of Dean, RAGACOVAS, payable at Puducherry. (Rs. 200/- for SC/ST candidates) should be sent to The Dean, Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kurumbapet, Puducherry 605 009 so as to reach him on or before 5.00 pm on 22.09.2008. Money Order/Postal Order etc., will not be accepted. Applications which are incomplete or received after the due date and time shall be rejected summarily and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. The college will not be responsible for any postal delay.

Candidates who are employed should send their application along with necessary certificates and prescribed fee through proper channel so as to reach this office on or before the due date. However, they can submit an advance copy along with the necessary certificates. If selected for the course he/she will be permitted to join the course only on production of relieving orders from the concerned employer.
