Duration of course:

ELIGIBILITY:
GATE qualified and sponsored in-service candidates having passed the prescribed qualifying examination with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.75 in 0-10 scale grading system or 60% marks in aggregate. However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 6.25 or 55% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Candidates without GATE score but with minimum CGPA of 6.75 or 60% marks in aggregate can also apply. Candidates seeking admission under sponsored quota must have a minimum of two years of full time work experience in a registered firm/company/industry/educational and research institution/any government department/autonomous organization, in the relevant field in addition to the eligibility criteria mentioned above. They have to apply in prescribed form (NITS//AC/01) along with the application form (NITS/AC/02 through their employers with suitable endorsement. All sponsored candidates satisfying the above criteria will be called for written test. In case the sponsored candidates fail to produce sponsorship certificate at the time of admission, their admission will stand cancelled. Written test shall be conducted for all the candidates. Candidates expecting to complete Bachelors degree by the end of July 2008 with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 or 60% marks are also eligible to apply.

Application form may be downloaded and the filled in application form be sent to Dean, Academic Affairs, National Institute of Technology, Hazratbal, Srinagar – 190 006 (J&K) along with photo copies of relevant documents and non-refundable demand draft of Rs. 300/- (Rs. 200/- in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates) in favour of Director, National Institute of Technology, Srinagar payable at any bank at Srinagar. Last date for receiving the application form is 08-07-2008. Application forms received after due date will not be considered.

II. 1. M.Phil. Programme
Eligibility
1. Candidates with Master’s Degree of Bharathiar University in the concerned or related discipline or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of Bharathiar University. All candidates should have passed two year Post Graduate degree course after 3-year Bachelor’s degree course and Higher Secondary course of 2-year duration after 10-year SSLC or one year Pre-degree after 11-year S.S.L.C.

2. Duration
M.Phil. : Full – time
The duration of the M.Phil. Full-Time programme shall extend over a period of one academic year (twelve months) consisting of two semesters commencing from September 1st.

M.Phil. : Part – time
The duration of the M.Phil. Part-time programme shall extend over a period of two academic years commencing from 1st September.

3. How to Apply
The Application consists of two copies:
First Copy: To be submitted by the candidates to the University. (Incase of downloaded application along with the cost of application and Registration Fee of Rs. 250 and 300/- for M.Phil. and Ph.D. respectively).

Second Copy: To be sent by the candidates to the Colleges / University department concerned along with the Xerox copy of the remittance proof of payment of the cost of application and Registration Fee. The College shall make use of the second copy of the application for selecting the candidates. Hereafter University will not send applications to the concerned colleges / Departments.

IMPORTANT DATES
The following are the sessions for admission to the M.Phil. / Ph.D. programmes in University during each academic year.

M. Phil. Programme
Session/s effective from: 1st September

Last date for receipt of Application: 30th June

THE APPLICATION SHALL BE SENT TO THE COLLEGES / UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENTS WHERE THE CANDIDATE SEEKS ADMISSION.
The applications should be accompanied by properly attested Photo Copies of the following certificates:
1. Mark / Grade Certificate of the qualifying Post Graduate (PG) course.
2. Provisional / Degree Certificates of the under Graduate (UG) and Post- Graduate Courses. (PG)
3. Transfer and Conduct Certificate (issued by the Institution last studied)
4. Community Certificate
5. Service Certificate issued by the Employer (in the case of candidates applying for part-time Programme, specifying the total duration of the service put in by the candidates in their organization)
6. No objection Certificate issued by the Head of the Institution / Employer (in the case of candidates applying for part-time Programme)
7. Qualification approval letter issued by this University (in the case of teacher candidates, working in Unaided Colleges / Unaided Departments in the aided colleges, applying for part-time Programme).


The candidates selected for admission to the M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes in the University Departments shall be required to submit the Original transfer certificate and conduct certificate, issued by the Institution last studied, statements of marks and Provisional/Degree certificates of Post Graduate and M.Phil. Degree Courses. The certificates once surrendered will not be returned to the candidates till the completion of the research programme. Hence, the candidates are advised to retain with them sufficient number of attested photocopies of the certificates, before surrendering the originals.

III. Ph.D. Programme
1. Eligibility
For purposes of admission to the Ph.D. Programme, a candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% (5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates in the minimum eligibility) marks in the qualifying examinations (10+2+3+2 system) or Teachers working in Colleges affiliated to Bharathiar University.

Admission for Ph.D. programme can be made four times in a year, i.e., January, April, July and October. Candidates should submit their applications on or before first working day of quarter, viz January, April, July and October.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

Application in prescribed form for 3 ½ years Course in General Nursing and Midwifery for the year 2008-09 are hereby invited and will be received by the office of the undersigned till 3.00 PM on 25th June, 2008.

Male and Female unmarried candidates who are indigenous inhabitants or permanent resident of the State and passed the 10+2 level examination with 45% aggregate marks from recognized university Board or Authority are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to Science Candidates.

Age:- Eligible application are those who are not below 17 years or above 22 years as on 31st August 2008

Candidates are required to appear before Screening Committee in Civil Hospital, Shillong and Civil Hospital, Tura for verification of Original copies of 10+2 Mark Sheet, Certificate, ST/SC Character Certificate from the Institution last attended and SSLC Mark Sheet and Admit Card. The Applicant will also be medical Examined at the same time and place for determination of the Medical fitness. Applicants who are medically unfit during Medical examination will be dropped from the list of Candidature with no further consideration.

Application which does not fulfill the requirement as per Advertisement will be rejected. No application will be received after 3.00 P.M. of 25th June 2008.

The List of selected candidates will be displayed on the NOTICE BOARD OF DIRECTORATE OF HEALTH SERVICES, (MI), SHILLONG, CIVIL HOSPITAL, SHILLONG/ TURA. No individual intimation will be served on any candidate selected.


Selection of Candidates, who are otherwise medically fit and eligible will be made purely on the basis of merit, determined by the aggregate percentage of marks obtained at the qualifying examination, and subject to reservation policy of the State Government applicable in this regard.
(i) The Department reserves the right to give weightage to Science stream candidates in view of the nature of the course and work, (ii) 4(four) seats for Males are reserved subject to non-availability of them up to that number on the merit list.

Screening of Candidates will be taken up on 15th & 16lh July 2008 at Civil Hospital, Shillong and Civil Hospital, Tura at 10.00 A.M.
