Applications are invited for admission to B.Sc.(Agri.) Course for the year 2008-2009 in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture & Research Institute, Karaikal-609 603.

I. ADMISSION (Total seats 60)*
a) 51 seats (85%) are reserved for Puducherry UT candidates.* (OC, OBC, MBC allotment as per norms)
b) 9 seats (15%) are reserved for other states / Other U.Ts.*

For both a & b SC/ST quota is as per norms.

III. ELIGIBILITY
a) A pass in Higher Secondary (Academic / Vocational) or equivalent examination with minimum marks as indicated below:
Academic : 50% in aggregate and a mere pass for SC/ST candidates

Competitive Examination for admission to Undergraduate programmes in Agriculture and allied Sciences for the Academic session 2008-09 (AIEEA 2008)

conducted by Indian Council of Agriculture Research, New Delhi and at the same time the candidates must satisfy the prescribed qualification as above.

They shall submit application for B.Sc.(Ag.) course with AIEEA 2008 marks.

There are two ways. The application form obtained on payment can be filled and sent to the Dean (Admissions). Applications downloaded form the web can

be filled and sent along with a DD of Rs.1000/- for Medical and Dental Courses & Rs.750/- for paramedical courses as applicable, favouring SRMIST,

payable at Chennai, to the Dean (Admissions).

ADMISSION TO MANAGEMENT QUOTA FOR PROFESSIONAL COURSES IN UN-AIDED ENGINEERING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN

PONDICHERRY STATE

In pursuance to the decision of the Apex court in Islamic Academic Education and another Vs State of Karnataka and others dated 14.08.2003; a Common

Entrance Test is to be conducted by an Association of Pondicherry Un-aided (self financing) Professional Colleges. The Un-aided Private Engineering

Colleges in Pondicherry state have formed an Association in the name of "Pondicherry Linguistic Minority Engineering Colleges Welfare Association" under

registration No.192/2004. This Association has been granted permission to conduct Common Entrance Test in the name of "Common Entrance Test for

Pondicherry Private Engineering Colleges (CETPPEC) for the purpose to admit students in various courses in the Private Engineering Colleges under the

Management Quota for the following member institutions

1. Bharathiyar College of Engineering & Technology, Karaikal.
2. Rajiv Gandhi college of Engineering & Technology, Pondicherry.
3. Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, Madagadipet Pondicherry.
4. Christ College of Engineering & Technology, Moolakulam, Pondicherry.


The application is meant for registering the candidate for common Entrance Test (CETPPEC-2008) conducted by Pondicherry Linguistic Minority

Engineering Colleges Welfare Association.

ELIGIBILITY:
A Pass in Higher Secondary or Equivalent examination with 45% marks aggregate in Mathematics, Physics and any one of the optional subjects Chemistry / Bio Technology / Computer Science / Biology (Botany & Zoology)


Age Limit: For four year B.Tech degree courses, the candidates with upper age limit of 21 years (relaxable upto 3 years for SC/ST Candidates) as on 1st

July 2008 are allowed to write CETPPEC 2008.

BOYSCAST FELLOWSHIP FOR THE YEAR 2008-09

The “Better Opportunities for Young Scientists in Chosen Areas of Science & Technology (BOYSCAST)” programme of the Department of Science & Technology (DST) provides opportunities to the young Indian scientists/technologists to visit institutions abroad, interact with scientists/technologists there, get trained in latest research techniques and conduct R&D in specially chosen frontline areas of science & technology. Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the award of fellowships under the BOYSCAST programme for conducting advanced research and undergoing training in advanced research techniques in overseas research laboratories/institutes, in chosen frontline areas of science & technology for the period of three to twelve months. The areas are given below:

Atmospheric and Earth Sciences:
Chemical Sciences:
Engineering Sciences:
Life Sciences:
Mathematical Sciences:
Physical Sciences:

Promising applications in areas other than the above areas may also be considered.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Young Indian scientists/technologists who fulfill the following conditions can submit application/proposal for award of BOYSCAST fellowship:
(i) Academic Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent or M.D. in Medicine or equivalent with research experience or Ph.D. in Science/ Engineering or equivalent. (ii) Age: Upto 35 years (as on 1st April, 2008). The applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC and women candidates may be allowed relaxation in the age limit unto 5 years.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION:
Application for the award of BOYSCAST fellowship should be sent in the formats given below. The matter should be neatly typed as per the formats (and not as annexures) and should not exceed 15 to 20 typed pages. Seven copies of the application (one in original and six copies) are required to be submitted. The application is required to be forwarded through the head of the institute where the applicant is employed. The application should contain (a) A recent letter of acceptance from foreign institution to be visited by the candidate specifically mentioning the BOYSCAST fellowship, in original with the original copy of the application. The other six copies of the application should contain photocopy of this letter. (b) Endorsement in original from head of the parent institution/organization on letter head as per the prescribed format No. (2) with the original copy of the application. The other six copies of the application should contain photocopy of this endorsement. (c) In case of SC/ST/OBC candidates, an attested copy of the certificate indicating the category to which the candidate belongs. A self addressed stamped postcard may accompany the application for acknowledgment.
