IIST announces the student counseling for Admission for BTech(Avionics,Aerospace) and MSc(Applied Science) for the year 2008
Students placed in the extended list and primary list of IIT-JEE are eligible to register their names for the counseling in IIST website online from June 11, 2008 to June 30,2008.

Based on the online registration and in the order of merit a combined list of students from the extended merit list and primary merit list who have not been allotted any seat in IIT or the affiliated institutions like BHU Varanasi, ISM Dhanbad etc. by IIT-JEE 2008 during its counseling will be generated for consideration in the counseling.

The counseling is scheduled on 17th and 18th July, 2008 at Bangalore.

Schedule:

11th June 2008 - 30th June 2008: Students in the IIT-JEE 2008 list can register their names for counseling in the IIST website online
4th July 2008: Merit List will be published in the website
17th and 18th July 2008: Counseling at Bangalore and issue of Admit card

9th and 10th August 2008: Admission and execution of bond at Thiruvananthapuram

11th August 2008: First Semester Classes begin

a) Candidates must have appeared in AIEEE – 2008 or AIPMT MAIN-2008, conducted by the CBSE. General category / OP candidates from AIEEE group must have

AIR upto 1,00,000. All candidates who have possess the AIPMT MAIN – 2008 rank card may apply.

b) Candidates must have passed in all subjects in which they have appeared in Class 10 (excluding optional subjects) with minimum 60% marks in average (50% for SC/ST).

Marks in Class 10 to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

c) Candidates must have passed in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology in Class 12 / I. Sc. or equivalent examination with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST). Marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of best 5 subjects including English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology.

d) Candidates of PCMB group will be preferred


BHMCT

a) Candidates must have passed in all subjects in which they have appeared in Class 10 (excluding optional subjects) with minimum 50% marks in average (45% for SC/ST).

1. Candidates should obtain our Undergraduate Information Brochure – B of 2008 and Application Form to apply.
2. The Undergraduate Information Brochure – B of 2008 giving details of the eligibility criteria, number of seats, fee structure, reservations and containing the prescribed application form will be available across the counter as per the dates mentioned below from all our Centres on all working days during working hours, on payment by crossed Bank Draft of Rs. 800/- drawn in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi.

3. To receive the Undergraduate Information Brochure – B of 2008 and application form by post, send a crossed bank draft for Rs. 900/- in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi, along with two self-addressed slips of paper (10 cm x 10 cm) with your name and address clearly written in block capitals and telephone number, and a letter mentioning the course applied for to reach any Centre positively by 9 June 2008. Write UG-B 2008 on the envelope. Candidates in their own interest should send their requests for Brochure by appropriate means well in advance of the last dates mentioned.

Eligibility:

PGDST

Graduate in any subject from a recognized Board/University OR a Diploma holder in Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education.

FPGDST

Graduate/Diploma holder in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/IT OR any graduate from a recognized Board/University with at least 6 months' part-time/3 months' full-time training in software technology, comprising a minimum of 15 hours of work per week, covering basic computer concepts and computer programming in the C language.

Candidates have to appear for the General Aptitude (GA), Computer Organisation (CO) and Data Structures & Algorithms (DS) papers and qualify.
