MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

(a) Ph.D.: 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.E./M. Tech/Equivalent for Ph.D. in Engineering; and Master of Science Equivalent with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Ph.D. in Science.
(b) M. Tech: 55% Marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination and valid GATE/UGC-CSIR NET exam score.
(c) The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed.
(d) Provisional certificate in such cases along with Mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before the commencement of programme.

SELECTION:
The admissions for Ph.D. will be based on performance in the entrance exam conducted by the department mentioned in para 1 of application form followed by interview. For M. Tech. it will be based on interview.

HOW TO APPLY:
Candidates can download the application form and the details from our website www.diat.ac.in. Application fee of Rs. 200/-(Rs. 100/- for SC/ST candidates) per programme is required to be paid by means of DD drawn in the favour of "Vice Chancellor, Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, PUNE - 25", payable at State Bank of India, Ginnagar Branch(Code 02155), PUNE - 411 025. The candidates are requested to wnte their name and department (or name of sub-discipline in case of Ph.D. applicant), for which they are applying for on the reverse of the draft. Duly filled application form along with necessary enclosures should reach to the Registrar, DIAT, Girinagar, PUNE-411025 by 30 Apr 2010. Separate applications must be filled for different programme.

1. CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION:
The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility condition for admit on to examination. Their admission to all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions

Mere issue of Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission.

Commission take up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has qualified for interview/Personality Test.

2. How to apply:
(a) Candidates who wish to apply Offline must apply in the Common Application form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the desginated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.
In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No. 011-23389366/FAX No. 011-23387310.
(b) Candidates except certain categories mentioned in para 5(c) can also apply Online using the link http://www.upsconline.nic.in. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website.
Candidates are advised to read carefully the "Instructions for filling up the Offline Application Form" given in Appendix-II (A) and Instructions for Online Applications given in Appendix II (B) of this notice.


3. LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS :

(a) Offline:
All offline applications must reach the "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi - 110069" either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 17th May 2010.
Candidates should note that applications will be received by hand, only one at a time, at the designated counter(s) and not in bulk, till 5 PM only.
However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in para 6 of this Notice the last date for receipt of application by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 24th May 2010.

(a) Online:
The online Applications can be filled upto 10th May 2010 till 11.59 PM after which the link will be disabled.

4. PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS:
Candidates should note that there will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

5. FACILITATION COUNTER FOR GUIDANCE OF CANDIDATES :
In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications, candidature etc. candidates can contact UPSC's Facilitation Counter near gate 'C' of its campus in person or over Telephone No. 011-23385271/011-23381125/011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs.

6. MOBILE PHONES BANNED :

(a) Mobile phones, pagers or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.
(b) Candidates are advised in their own interest not be bring any of the banned items including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangement for safekeeping cannot be assured.

7. Candidates are advised not bring any valuables/costly items to the examination halls, as safe keeping of the same cannot be assured. Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.

NOTICE FOR THE ENTRANCE TEST FOR THE Ph.D PROGRAMME IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERING IN THE DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED PHYSICS, UNIVERSITY OF CALCUTTA

Applications, in the following prescribed format, are invited from candidates, willing to pursue Ph. D programme in the Department of Applied Physics, University of Calcutta. Subjects/fields/areas of the programme are mainly in the areas of Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering. However, if a candidate wishes to apply for admission to the programme from any interdisciplinary field, a part of which either falls in the area of Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering, he / she will have to attach a separate application in this regard with his/her application form addressed to the Head of the Department for consideration.

Eligibility Criteria : The following candidates are eligible to apply

  • Candidates having 75% or more marks in Post B.Sc- B.Tech/ B. Tech/ BE or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering as per CU Ph.D rules-2009. They should also have at least 75% marks all through their academic career starting from Madhyamik or equivalent Examination. Such candidates will have to sit for the Ph.D. Programme Entrance Test.
  • Candidates with 1st class M.Tech/ME degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering or allied subjects, from any AICTE recognized Institute, will be exempted from the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Department.
  • Candidates having 1st class M.Sc degree in Electronics or Computer Science and who have cleared UGC / CSIR(JRF) examinations/ NET /GATE /SET/ SLET/ Teacher Fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations are exempted from the Entrance Test, otherwise they have to sit for the Entrance Test.
All candidates, including candidates clearing the Entrance Test, will have to appear in an interview to be conducted by the Department. A candidate qualifying in the interview will be selected for the Ph.D programme.
On being selected for the Ph. D. Programme, a candidate shall be required to enroll as a probationary Ph.D. student on payment of a non-refundable fee determined by the University.
Each Ph.D. student, while carrying on his/her research during the tenure of his/her registration, shall be required to undertake a course work for a minimum period of one semester (six months).
In addition, candidates mentioned in item no.(i), after being provisionally admitted to the Ph.D programme, will also have to qualify in some other criteria as per CU norms before being registered as a Ph.D candidate.

  • The Ph.D. entrance test will be of Multiple Choice Question type and Short answer question type. The examination will be of 1 (one) hour duration.
  • The questions of the Entrance Test will, in general, cover topics of Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, basics of Physics, Electronics and Computer Science.
  • At the most 20 candidates (in concurrence with the reservation policy) will be enrolled in the year 2010.

Particulars in respect of the Joint Entrance Test and other relevant information are given below:
  • The candidates who have appeared/passed Higher Secondary (10+2) examination or its equivalent examination with subjects recognized by the University of Calcutta securing at least 45% of the total marks in case of general category applicants and 40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST are eligible to apply.
  • Application forms will be available from the Calcutta University Sales Counter at College Street on payment of Rs.300/= plus Rs. 20/= as centre fee (in total Rs.320/= ) on all working days from 12-04-2010.
  • Application forms duly filled in will be received in the office of the Department of Law, Calcutta University at 51/1, Hazra Road, Kolkata-700019 on all working days between 12th April and 30th April 2010 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Application form can be downloaded from the official website of Calcutta University www.caluniv.ac.in. on and from 12th April 2010. Downloaded application forms complete in all respects along with the proof of payment of Rs.300/- + 20/- will be received in the office of the Sr. Secretary, Law, C.U. at 51/1, Hazra Road, Kolkata – 700019.
  • Original Marksheets and or original Admit Cards (H.S.) of the candidates will have to be shown at the time of submission of forms.
  • Admit Cards will be distributed instantly on receiving the valid forms.
  • Entrance Test will be held on 2nd May 2010 at 12 noon.
  • Examination centre will be specified in the Admit Card.
  • After the Admission Test, the admission will be done through counselling.
  • Date of publication of Result / Rank List : 2nd June 2010 (will be displayed on official website of C.U www.caluniv.ac.in.
  • Dates and other details about counselling will be notified during publication of results.
  • All admission, Re-admission and transfer will be completed within one month from the date of commencement of classes.
  • Transfer from Self-Financing Law College can only be to another Self-Financing Law College.
  • Rs. 1000.00 (Non refundable) will be collected in cash as caution money from each candidate during counselling. The amount will be adjusted by the institution concerned at the time of admission.
  • Reservation of seats for SC/ST candidates, Physically Handicapped candidates and for other categories will be as per University rules and the applicants will have to attach relevant valid certificates from competent authority along with the application forms. Physically Handicapped candidates will have to produce certificates from the Presidency Surgeon/Chief Medical Office of the District in this regard. SC/ST candidates of other states are not entitled to reservation benefits as per State Government order.
  • Selected candidates are required to follow University rules and regulations regarding attendance and all other matters.

ADMISSION TO M.Sc. (FOOD TECHNOLOGY) DEGREE COURSE AT CENTRAL FOOD TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, MYSORE

Applications are invited for 2 year M.Sc. (Food Technology) Degree Course of the University of Mysore for the years 2010-12.

Eligibility criteria: Bachelor Degree in Science with Chemistry/Biochemistry as one of the subjects or Agriculture / Engineering / Technology. Mathematics as one of the subjects in Plus 2 or Pre University or at Degree level is compulsory for admission.
