RIET is affiliated to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) in Rourkela (Orissa), which has been established by an Act of the State Assembly of Orissa in June 2002. RIET offer B.Tech programmes in several engineering disciplines.

Each academic year provide admissions to 60 eligible candidates in each of the disciplines listed above, making the total number 300 per year.
