The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has invited applications for the Joint Managemnet Entrance Test (JMET-2009) for admission to the two-year fulltime postgraduate programmes in management at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee for the academic year 2009-2010. Meritorious engineering graduates are eligible to appear for JMET 2009.

Applicatins can be submitted online only and can be done from September 8 to October 8.

LAST DATE FOR RECEIVEING THE COMPLETED ONLINE APPLICATION FORMS AT IIT KHANPUR GATE OFFICE IS DECEMBER, 17, 2008.

JMET - 2009 will be held on December 14, 2008.

  • IIT Bombay: Master of Management (M. Mgt.);
  • IIT Delhi: MBA with focus on Management Systems; MBA with focus on Telecommunications Systems Management;
  • IIT Kanpur: Master of Business Administration (MBA);
  • IIT Kharagpur: Master of Business Administration (MBA);
  • IIT Madras: Master of Business Administration (MBA);
  • IIT Roorkee: Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Eligibility:
Criteria for admission to the individual Institutes are given below:

  • IIT Bombay: A First Class degree (Min. 60% aggregate / Min. CGPI of 6.5/10) in either Engineering (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) or Master’s degree in Science.
  • IIT Delhi: Minimum 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.75/10 CGPA in Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/ Agriculture Engg.(min 4 years after 10+2) or Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science, Agriculture, Commerce, Economics. There is a relaxation of 5% in marks or equivalent in CGPA for SC/ST candidates.
  • IIT Kanpur: B.E./B.Tech. in any branch of Engineering with 60% marks in aggregate or CGPA of 6.0/10.0 in aggregate based on average over whole programme. Candidates with Architecture degree can also apply provided they have taken Mathematics at 10+2 level.
  • IIT Kharagpur: First Class Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or a first class Master’s degree in Science, Economics or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level).
  • IIT Madras: First Class or equivalent in B.E./B.Tech./Master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Institution or University.
  • IIT Roorkee: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of Engineering / Technology or its equivalent or a Master's’ degree in any discipline from a recognized Institute/University with at least 60% marks for General & OBC category candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST category candidates in aggregate or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10 point scale for General & OBC category candidates and 5.50 on a 10 point scale for SC/ST category candidates.

Note: Candidates appearing for final examinations for the qualifying degree can also apply. However, they have to complete all requirements for the qualifying degree and produce a provisional certificate before a date specified by the admitting Institute.

Reservation: As per Govt. of India rules.

Application Form and Submission
A candidate can apply for JMET 2009 using “online” mode only. The Application Fee is Rs. 750. Only for SC/ST candidates, the Application Fee is Rs. 350.

The Application Fee is not refundable.

Online submission of application can be made by accessing the website http://www.iitk.ac.in/gate. The candidate should pay the Application Fee through a Demand Draft in favour of 'Organising Chairman, JMET 2009' on any nationalised bank payable at 'Kanpur'. The candidate is required to sign the printed Online Application Form, affix photograph at the appropriate place, attach the Demand Draft and other relevant documents and send it ONLY to The Chairman GATE, IIT Kanpur, Kanpur 208016. These steps complete the Online Application procedure.
