The strong desire of a philanthropist and educationist, Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, to develop education paved the way for the establishment of Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical, Educational and Charitable Trust at Salem, Tamil Nadu, India. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Vinayaka Missions’ Trust. By his zeal, dedication and untiring effort he made a niche for himself in the field of education in India and abroad. All through his life he has been devoting himself to the cause of education. His bold and strong conviction is “Education is an important instrument for social change”. His main objective is to make education reachable to the masses.
In pursuance of this objective, the University has established various educational institutions in the fields of medicine, dentistry, nursing, allied health sciences engineering, management, computer science applications and basic sciences, thereby contributing to the global needs for knowledge and education.
Vinayaka Missions has translated its Vision “to achieve excellence in education for the enrichment of the society” through its Mission of “spreading education globally” and successfully established many international co-operations across the globe.

To offer educational programs of International Standard to prepare students to become competent medical professionals with a holistic approach in a global environment.
About the Programme
Vinayaka Missions University has established its off-shore campus in the premises of Rangsit University, Bangkok, Thailand to offer Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) Program. This program is approved and notified in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India in concurrence with the University Grants Commission (UGC), vide their letter No.F.9-13/2005-U-3 dated October 10, 2006.
Highlights of the Program
- MBBS is an undergraduate degree in medicine which enables one to register as a medical practitioner and to pursue post graduate degrees in various fields of medicine.
- Duration of study is 4½ years followed by one year of internship.
- The program follows the norms of Medical Council of India.
- Approved and notified in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India in concurrence with the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The course is taught in English as the medium of instruction.
The degree will be awarded by Vinayaka Missions University Offshore Campus, Bangkok, Thailand.
The Indian students graduating in this program will have to undergo a screening test as per the provisions of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and the Screening Test Regulations, 2002 of Medical Council of India, to register as a medical practitioner in India.
Course Information
Total Duration of study is 5½ years (66 months) including 1 year internship.
The entire program is divided into Five Phases as detailed below :
Basic Medical Sciences Program
Offshore Campus, Bangkok, Thailand.
Students have the option to undergo Internship in India after qualifying the Screening Test as per the provisions of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and the Screening Test Regulations, 2002 of Medical Council of India.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for Indian Students:
Education : A pass in 10+2 system or higher secondary or senior secondary or Pre Degree Course or their equivalents having passed with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology /(Botany and Zoology) and English individually and with a minimum of 50 % in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/(Botany and Zoology) taken together.
For Indian students the eligibility norms of MCI will apply for quota/reserved category students.
Age : Candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st December, of the year of admission to the MBBS Course.
