Indian Oil Scholarships Scheme Indian Oil Corporation Limited - India's largest commercial enterprise and the No.1 Indian Company in Fortune 'Global 500' listing - awards 450 Scholarships for meritorious students all over India, under the Indian Oil Scholarships Scheme for each academic year.

As part of Indian Oil's social responsibility programme, the scheme provides for attractive scholarships to bright students selected on 'merit-cum-means' basis. For each academic year, 450 scholarships covering the first year students of 10+ / ITI, Engineering, MBBS and MBA, are formally announced through newspaper advertisements inviting applications under the IndianOil Scholarships Scheme.

ELIGIBILITY:
Students pursuing full time courses in these streams & studying in Schools/Colleges/Institutions/Universities recognized by MCI/AICTE/State Education Boards/ State

Govt. / ICSC/CBSE/Central Govt./Association of Indian universities, shall be eligible to apply. The student should have bonafide admission in the 1st year of School/College/Institute/University in the academic year 2008-2009. Students of two year full time post graduate courses in Business Administration/Management recognized by Central/State Govt./Association of Indian universities and which are equivalent to MBA, are eligible for management stream scholarship. Students having confirmed admission in the first year of full time engineering degree course, MBBS, MBA and also 11th standard as well as those in the 1st year of 2 year ITI course are eligible to apply. For MBA the average percentage of marks of all the academic years of graduation, shall be treated as eligibility marks. Minimum eligibility percentage of marks for various categories will be as indicated above. Gross Joint income of the family of the candidate from all sources (during financial year 2007-2008) should not exceed Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only). The marks obtained in the qualifying examination making the students eligible to seek admission in the respective first year of these courses will be considered for selection. Normalization of marks of applicant shall be done for Engg., MBBS & MBA streams to bring parity of marking system within different Boards/ Universities/Institutions. Criterion for selection will be merit and family’s income. Wards of the employees of IOCL, its Joint Venture and Subsidiary companies and ACE Consultants are not eligible to apply.

AGE LIMIT:
Minimum 15 years and maximum 30 years as on 1.9.2008. Persons born between 1.9.78 and 1.9.93 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.

IUCAA and NCRA :

The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, and the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA – TIFR), Pune, are two leading centres of research in a wide range of areas in Astronomy and Astrophysics. IUCAA and NCRA are located in neighbouring campuses in the Pune University Campus.

NCRA offers exciting opportunities for research in Astronomy and Astrophysics, as well as instrumentation, with an emphasis on Radio Astronomy. NCRA has built and operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, which is located near Pune, and is the biggest and most powerful radio telescope in the world at low radio frequencies.

It has been used internationally and has led to several significant discoveries. NCRA has modern computing facilities and a well-stocked library.

IUCAA offers challenging opportunities to young researchers in theory, observation, and instrumentation in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Recently, IUCAA has acquired a share in the 10 m Southern African Large Telescope (SALT), and operates the IUCAA Girawali Observatory (IGO) with 2 m optical telescope. Both the telescopes are with imaging, spectroscopic and polarimetric capabilities. IUCAA has a high performance computational facility, and a good library.


IUCAA – NCRA Admission Test (INAT – 2008) :

Applications are invited from students who expect to complete their M.Sc. (in Physics/ Electronics/Astronomy/Applied Mathematics) or B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. (any branch) degree, by August 2009, for research scholarship (to do Ph.D.) at either of the following institutes:

IUCAA, Pune, for Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Physics,
NCRA – TIFR, Pune, for Astronomy and Astrophysics.

They are looking for highly motivated students with consistently good academic record. Students who have already completed the above degrees can also apply.

One Year Diploma Course in Archives and Records Management
2008-2009 Session

Duration : 5th November, 2008 to 31st October, 2009

Objective : To train the candidates in various disciplines of Archival Studies viz. Records Management, Conservation, Reprography and Information Sciences and to produce highly competent professionals in the field of Archives.

Eligibility : M.A( History) second class with minimum 50% marks in aggregate with one optional paper in Modern Indian History (Post 1750 period.) from a recognized university.

Or

M.A. in other streams of Social Sciences i.e. Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Linguistics, etc. with minimum 50% marks from a recognized University.

Or

M.Sc. in Applied/ Physical Sciences with minimum 50% marks from a recognized University.

Out of total 30 seats, 10 seats are reserved for Master Degree in History and 10 seats for other streams, i.e. M.A. in Social Sciences, M.Sc in Applied/ Physical Sciences etc. and 10 seats are reserved for sponsored candidates.

Reservation : Reservation of seats as per Government of India norms for SC/ST/OBC/person with disability

Age : Below 30 years for private candidates and below 50 years for sponsored candidates

Selection : For 20 seats meant for Private Candidates, admission would be made through a written test followed by an interview. Admission is made purely on merit basis. For sponsored candidate there is no entrance test and they are admitted purely on the basis of sponsorship of the employer/ department and recommendation of the Selection Committee.

Scholarship : Ten scholarships of the value of Rs.1500/- p.m. are awarded purely on the basis of merit. Six Stipends of Rs.1000/- p.m. are awarded to sponsored candidates.

The college is approved by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.
