Applications are invited for admission to the PG Courses viz. M.Pharm., MPT, M.Sc. (Nursing)
and P.B.B.Sc. (Nursing) in Mother Theresa Institute of Health Sciences (MTIHS), Puducherry
for the academic year 2008-2009.

COURSES OFFERED
The Institute offers UG & PG Degree and Diploma courses in Paramedical education of Nursing,
Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Laboratory Technology, Radio-diagnosis and Multipurpose Health
Worker scheme. The courses are conducted as per the rules and regulations of the respective
councils and statutory bodies such as Board of Medical Education, Board of Examination for
Nurses, Pondicherry University, Nursing Councils, Pharmacy Council of India and All India
Council for Technical Education.
Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Laboratory Technology, Radio-diagnosis and Multipurpose Health
Worker scheme. The courses are conducted as per the rules and regulations of the respective

The admission of candidates for U.G. Degree courses is entrusted with the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC), Gov. of Puducherry since 2002-03. The selection of candidates for Diploma Courses is done by the institute as per the marks obtained the respective qualifying examination on merit basis. The students admission for the following P.G. Courses will be based on the marks obtained in the P.G. Entrance Examination (50%) conducted by the Institute (MTIHS) and marks obtained in the respective qualifying examination (50%). POST BASIC B.Sc. (NURSING) COURSE :
This institute is also intending to offer P.B. B.Sc.-Nsg from this academic year 2008-09 with a view to upgrade the nursing skills of the in-service nursing personnel (diploma holders) and to provide better nursing care services in the UT of Puducherry, as detailed below:

COMMON ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Age Limit: There is no age limit for admission to P.G. Degree Courses and Post Basic B.Sc. (Nsg) Course.
Nationality: A candidate seeking admission should be an Indian National. However, French Nationals residing in the Puducherry UT and covered by the terms of the Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with Indian Nationals for the purpose of admission.
Puducherry UT Candidates: Candidates who are residents of Puducherry UT are eligible for admission to the courses. A candidate is considered to be of Puducherry Resident (Puducherry
UT Candidate) provided he/she is an Indian National and satisfies at least one of the following criteria.
a. Those candidates or whose parents have been residing continuously in the Puducherry UT atUT Candidate) provided he/she is an Indian National and satisfies at least one of the following criteria.
least for 5 years as on first of June 2008.
b. Those who have passed the Degree examination and for that purpose had undergone academic studies for 5 successive classes immediately preceding the qualifying examination (including the year of the qualifying examination) in recognized educational institution(s) located in Puducherry UT and having resided in Puducherry UT for 5 years continuously during that period.
c. Certificate. Such French Nationals will not be required to produce residence certificChildren of Central / State Government Servants / Defence Personnel/ Central Paramilitary Forces/Employees of Public Sector Undertakings wholly or substantially run either by the Central Government of by the Puducherry UT administration posted and serving in the Puducherry UT for at least a minimum period of one year prior to the last date of submission of application.d. Children of natives of the Puducherry UT who have declared any place in the Puducherry UT as their hometown and so certified by their respective Heads of Office. In such case, Nativity Certificate in the prescribed format has to be enclosed along with the admission application (Form E).
e. Children of Defence Personnel who were killed or disabled in action and children of Central Government Servants / Puducherry UT Government Servants / Defence Personnel /Employees of Public Sector undertakings as referred in category (3) who died while in service in Puducherry UT.
f. French Nationals residing in Puducherry UT and covered by the terms of the Treaty of
Cession shall be treated on par with the candidates who produce the prescribed Puducherry UT
residenceate, instead they should produce a certificate of registration issued for this purpose from the French Consulate at Puducherry.
Other States/UTs candidates: Candidates from Other States/UTs shall be an Indian National.
They should produce Nationality, Nativity/Residence Certificate issued by the Competent Authority. The SC/ST candidates seeking seats under reservation should furnish
Caste/Community Certificate issued by the Competent Authority of the State/UT.
Cession shall be treated on par with the candidates who produce the prescribed Puducherry UT
residenceate, instead they should produce a certificate of registration issued for this purpose from the French Consulate at Puducherry.
Other States/UTs candidates: Candidates from Other States/UTs shall be an Indian National.
They should produce Nationality, Nativity/Residence Certificate issued by the Competent Authority. The SC/ST candidates seeking seats under reservation should furnish
Caste/Community Certificate issued by the Competent Authority of the State/UT.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Application form and Information Brochure 2008-09 (P.G. courses) can be obtained either in
person or by post from the Registrar, Mother Theresa Institute of Health Sciences, Indira Nagar, Gorimedu, Puducherry-605 006 on payment of Rs.500 (Rs.125/- for SC/ST candidates, on furnishing the requisite caste certificate) by crossed Demand Draft drawn after 28.07.2008
in favour of THE DEAN, MOTHER THERESA INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES, PUDUCHERRY payable in Puducherry. If the applicants desire to receive the application form and information brochure by post, a self-addressed envelope of size 30 x 12 cms, affixed with postage stamp for Rs.20 should also be enclosed with the requisition alongwith the required payment by DD.
Payment by Cheques, Money Orders, Postal Orders will not be accepted. The details are also available in the web site: http://mtihs.puducherry.gov.in. Application forms can also be downloaded and submitted along with crossed Demand Draft for the said amount drawn in favour of the Dean, Mother Theresa Institute of Health Sciences payable at Puducherry.
Filled in Applications for seeking admission in the prescribed form along with all necessary enclosures should be sent to THE DEAN, MOTHER THERESA INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES,
PUDUCHERRY, so as to reach latest by 18.08.2008 (Monday) before 5.00 p.m. Applications which are incomplete, defective or received after the due date shall be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. This Institute will not be responsible for any postal delays.
P.G. Entrance Test 2008-09 :
The Entrance Test in the respective subjects will be conducted by the institute on 30.08.2008 (Saturday) at 11.00 AM in the campus of MTIHS. The pattern of PGET 2008-09 consists of 100 questions of objective type. The duration of the test will be 90 minutes.
The GATE and Sponsored candidates need not appear for Entrance Test 2008-09.
