Post Graduate Fellowships for Study of M.S. Course in Science Communication

National Council of Science Museums, an autonomous scientific & research organization under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, engaged in popularization of Science & Technology among the people at large, intends to offer five numbers of Post Graduate Fellowship for a period of two years commencing from January, 2010. The selected fellows will undergo full time four Semester Master of Science (Post Graduate) Course in Science Communication being conducted by the Council in collaboration with the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani on an off-campus mode. The lecturers and tutorials would be held at National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata

Essential Qualification:
  • 1st Class Bachelor degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Information Technology/ Telecommunication/ Computer/ Metallurgy/ Chemical/ Production Engineering or
  • 1st Class M.Sc. degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Zoology/ Botany/ Biotechnology/ Environmental Science.

Fellowship: Rs. 8000/- per month for two years with contingency grant of Rs. 8000/- per annum. Mere possession of requisite qualifications shall not entitle the candidates to be called for the Test and Interview. Decision of the council in this regard shall be final. Canvassing in any form and/ or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as disqualification for the fellowship. Interim enquiries will not be entertained.

Notice for admission to M.A. Course in Journalism and Mass Communication (Session 2009 –2010)

Application are invited from eligible candidates in prescribed forms available at the University Sales Counter, College Street Campus, Kolkata -73 for admission test on payment of Rs.400/-Honours Graduate in Journalism and Mass Communication of this University may collect application forms on payment of Rs. 50/- on production of Honours Part III Marks sheet for apply to direct admission quota.

Eligibility : Honours Graduate (under 10+2+3 system) in any discipline (age within 30 years as on 1.6.2009 and Working Journalist (Preferably Honours Graduate) with 3 years experience in any field of media and within 35 years as on 1.6. 2009. Successful candidates in Communicative English (Major) will also be eligible to sit for the entrance examination.

If any student remains absent from classes continuously for 15 days or 30 days (with interruptions) within the first two months from the date of admission his/her studentship will terminate and name will automatically be struck off the rolls.
