ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

With a view to meet the immediate trained human resource requirements of the IT and ITES industries, Department of Information Technology (DIT), Govt. of India, has taken up an initiative to set up Training for Professional Program for engineering graduates. ABV-IITM, Gwalior is conducting Training for Professional Programme for a period of 12 weeks, from September - 01, November - 30, 2008. The Institute has taken up the responsibility of training about 50 engineering graduates. This effort has twin objectives of (i) offering suitable candidates to IT industry and (ii) helping young graduates to find jobs by inculcating IT and soft skills components through appropriate training. The programme offers rich inputs to enhance and sharpen the required skills among the engineering graduates and make them employable in the IT and ITES industry. The institute will endeavor attempts to secure the job for the participants in the programme. It may however be noted that this programme does not guarantee employment and candidates will not be treated as students of ABV-IIITM, Gwalior. The programme will be delivered by the faculty of ABV-IIITM, Gwalior with additional support from practicing executives from the IT and ITES industry.

ELIGIBILITY:

B.E./N.TECH/ MCA/MBA/ M.Sc. CSE and M.Sc IT of recognized institutes/ colleges who have completed their programmes in 2008 or earlier and are unemployed are eligible to attend the programme. The candidates have to declare that they have not obtained a full time job while applying for this special programme.

SELECTION:

Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of academic performance/ Test in the engineering degree. Reservations, as per Government of India norms, shall apply.

Applications are invited for the conduct of supplementary counselling for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2008 form Tamil Nadu candidates who have become eligible consequent to the special supplementary examinations held during 2008. The seats vacant at the end of regular counselling will be offered to these candidates.

Candidates can get the application form from the Centre for Admissions, Anna University Chennai, Chennai-600025 from 14-08-2008 by cash / Demand Draft for RS.500/- (Rs.250/- in case of SC/ST candidates* belonging Tamilnadu) towards registration fee.

Application forms can also be obtained by post from the Secretary, TAmil Nadu Engineering Admissions, Anna University Chennai, Chennai-600025 along with a Demand Draft for Rs.650/- (Rs.450/- in case of SC/ST candidates*. belonging to Tamil Nadu) and an address label written in capital letters to which the application is to be mailed.

The Demand Draft shold be drawn in favour of "The Director, Admissions, Anna University Chennai", Payable at Chennai.

Other State Candidates are not eligible.

Indian animation has evolved from tiny workshops executing outsourced projects to full-fledged studios involved in creation of IP. To evolve from a junior/ mid-level profile to that of an Animation Director, industry professionals need a knowledge edge.

This is what Arena's 18-month Postgraduate Program in Animation - tailored to the needs of experienced professionals - delivers.


ENTRANCE CRITERIA:
A Graduate degree in any discipline form a recognized university with at least one-year programme in animation from an institute of repute, or minimum one to two years

of professional experience of working inthe animation industry.

The total intake for this programme would be 50 students.

The last date of submission of aplication form is August 16, 2008 followed by the entrnace exam on August 23 and 24, at AICAR, Neral.

The Final list would be announced after a personal interview (with Portfolio showcase) in September.

The Course commences from October 6, 2008.


Program details:
The 18-month residential Program is conducted at a scenic campus in Neral, near Mumbai's Matheran hill station. Modules covered include filmmaking, project management, commercial aspects of animation & research methodology. The Program also includes a 3-month Internship at a recognized animation studio.

Curriculum is developed by Arena Animation in collaboration with University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, UK.

Certification option
The Program also offers the option of earning the international MA Media (Animation) through a 9-month learning stint at UWE, Bristol, UK.

A. Arena option
